The only thing holding back the tidal waves of excitement about the release of the iPhone is that Apple has not announced an official date; it is very hard to take off work, pack your tent and thermos and prepare for a campout when you have no time frame to work with. Many people initially hoped Jobs would release the phone to the public sometime during WWDC week, relatively early in June. Those hopes seem a bit overzealous at the moment, some still hold that the iPhone could hit shelves around June 20th; much more plausible.
However, speculation really only goes as far as there are hard facts to replace them; though official dates are yet to be released, a credible source who has reported succesfully in the past might be the most trustworthy deliverer of speculation.
That also coincides with Jobs’ statement recently about the iPhone hitting stores before the last day in June; after all, there are only 30 days in the month…if Apple wants to squeeze as much time for delivery as possible, the 29th sounds accurate.
Don’t start packing your overnight bags just yet, as that means you have nearly a month to go. However, you might start planning your excuses and “business trips” that will inexplicably land you and your friends outside an Apple store prior to launch. Stealing out of the bed in the middle of the night is much more difficult to justify to significant others, so I would start out a bit earlier to avoid the most messy of confrontations. Speculation is rife on the iPhone's release date and availability. A report from 'BoyGenius' claims it could be released on June 11, based on one of their sources seeing an AT&T poster.
A couple sources of ours have seen AT&T posters saying "June 11th", but Apple usually launches products on a Tuesday. Apple's WWDC is on Monday, the 11th of June. Can we put 2 + 2 together?
"We have said consistently that we're looking forward to shipping the iPhone in late June and that has not changed."

AN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Apple Inc. said Thursday that U.S. regulators have cleared the way for Apple to begin selling its iPhone cell phone in the U.S. next month.
The Federal Communications Commission signaled its approval with a posting on its Web site early Thursday, which sent Apple shares up 2% to $109.44
The iPhone is Apple's boldest attempt to conquer new technology markets since the company launched the original iPod in October 2001.
The phone, which will cost $500 and be available initially to only AT&T Wireless customers, signifies how strongly Apple believes it needs to diversify from its core Macintosh computer line and turn itself into an all-inclusive media-device company.
Apple unveiled the iPhone in early January. The new touch-screen phone will be able to play music, surf the Internet and take pictures, among other functions.
"Apple is going to reinvent the phone," Jobs said on Jan. 9, after unveiling the phone during a keynote speech at Macworld, an Apple-focused trade show in San Francisco. "After today, nobody is going to look at these [other mobile phones] the same way again."
The iPhone uses a new technology called multitouch to do away with the traditional keyboard found on most phones or personal digital assistants, and replaces it with a screen upon which "buttons" will appear for different functions such as its built-in iPod, phone and Web surfing.
It will also have a 3.5-inch diagonal screen and be 11.6 millimeters thick. Apple said that the phone will have a 2-megapixel camera, instant text-messaging capacity, iTunes sync and a visual voice-mail system, which will allow users to read a list of people who called.
Several iPhone accessories will also be available in June, including Apple's new, remarkably compact Bluetooth headset.

While investors we’re very excited about the upcoming launch of iPhone and Apple is putting most of its energies into the June release, AT&T has released what appears to be the “first iPhone in Texas” ahead of the official launch schedule.
Stan Sigman, CEO of AT&T Wireless (Cingular), a graduate from West Texas A&M University (WTAMU) in 1970 was the recent commencement speaker at WTAMU in Canyon, Texas. During the occasion, he presented the president of WTAMU, Dr. O’Brien, with what he claimed was “the first iPhone in Texas.” Dr. O’Brien even held the iPhone up for the crowd to see at the ceremonies.
The presentation was captured in a video taken from a Treo. The sound is a bit hard to follow but you can hear the bit about the iPhone if you listen carefully.
The event clearly indicates that iPhone hype is starting to kick in full gear. With the launch of iPhone, expect to see a lot of coverage from your televisions and favorite internet sites for the next month or so.
iPhone isn’t “perfect”. It is a sleek looking gadget, but without email capabilities and Office support. Microsoft even said that iPhone is not good enough for business and enterprise users. But knowing Apple, iPhone will surely evolve after release to give users the next level of online experience.
In fact, at the recent shareholder meeting in San Francisco, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs disclosed that the company is still struggling to decide if third-party developers will be able to create software that will run on the iPhone. It’s a decision Apple “is wrestling with,” according to Jobs.
If Apple so decide to allow 3rd party developers in the “mix” to create applications for people to “personalize” their iPhone device to fit their needs, iPhone will more likely to succeed in the “business” market. And iPhone may even become a “cool toy” we all might want to try.

This one came from a pretty high-up source of ours, and it turns out to be pretty interesting. Apple iPhone displays will soon be hitting AT&T stores across the country and yes, we got some details! First off, it was relayed to us that many stores will actually have to be rewired because the display demands it's own power supply, and even requires a network cable. As far as the size of the iPhone display itself, get this — 7 ft tall, and 3 ft wide! Many stores have already started installing the necessary power systems which means that working displays should be here within the next few weeks. Whether the Apple iPhone will be featured as soon as the displays are ready is still unknown, but if it is, well, does anyone remember the RIM Break In?
